About guembanara

Guembanara is a collective born in 2008 that gathers projects about Africa from different moviemakers with experience. Individually we come from media- activism stories, laboratories for the multimedia education in several conflicts zones, documentary productions and enquiries. We do many other projects: tv shows, exhibitions and video clips.. but this is the connection point between our professional life and that personal path that in a way or another brought us to Africa. It has been more than ten years now that we are telling about this country and its habits, we are living with his population putting together our competence and militant spirit. Guenbanara is the circle of our “movie-relation”.

Aggiornamento sui nostri Progetti:

– MamAfrica – History and life of a great African dancer

Nuovo Teaser del progetto realizzato dopo la sessione di riprese
africane.

Siamo lietissimi di annunciare la collaborazione con il grandissimo
Famoudou Konaté che parteciperà al film sia in scena che
musicalmente con la colonna sonora.
Le riprese africane sono concluse; abbiamo programmato una sessione di
riprese invernali in Europa con Mamadama Camara e Famoudou Konaté.

-Prossimi Progetti:

-Laboratori e Produzione di un Film collettivo.
Nel dicembre 2015 sono previste in Guinea le Elezioni Presidenziali e
si preannunciano forti tensioni etniche, sociali e politiche. In
collaborazione con alcuni Reporter Indipendenti e con alcuni studenti
dell’Università di Cinema e Giornalismo di Dubreka (Guinea) stiamo
organizzando la produzione di un film collettivo che seguirà gli
avvenimenti passo a passo. Organizzeremo laboratori nella prima parte
dell’anno e andremo in produzione a partire da settembre-ottobre 2015.

-Hardware dismesso
Per la realizzazione del film collettivo abbiamo bisogno di diversi
computer e piccole telecamere. Se avete del vecchio hardware dismesso,
dei vecchi portatili o pezzi sparsi di computer in disuso e non volete
buttarli dateli a noi!! Li rimetteremo in vita installandoci sistemi
Gnu-Linux, probabilmente Debian-testing con i quali realizzeremo il
montaggio del Film Collettivo.

-Eventi e Finanziamento
Come sempre siamo drammaticamente legati alla necessità di finanziare
i nostri progetti che rimangono totalmente autofinanziati ed
indipendenti. Stiamo organizzando serate ed eventi soprattutto nei
centri sociali ma anche con associazioni, realtà di base, etc etc per
promuovere e finanziare la nostra attività.

We are very proud to announce the collaboration with the great
Famoudou Konaté. He will participate on scene and also with the
soundtrack of the movie.

The African shooting is quit over and we scheduled an European session
of shooting for this winter with Mamadama Camara and Famoudou Konaté.

-Next Projects

– Fillm making workshops and Production of a collective movie

We are working on the production of a collective movie in association
with some independent reporters and with the collaboration of some
Cinema and journalism Students of the University of Dubreka. We’ll
making a documentary movie about the 2015 Presidential Elections.

During this period have provided strong political, social and ethnic
tensions.

We will make Workshops and labs in the first part of the next year
and then we will start the shooting between October and December.

-Unused Hardware
To realize our collective movie project we need some tech stuff as
some small camcorders and desktops and laptops . We are searching for
old hardware. We could give them a new life installing Gnu-Linux
systems based, probably Debian-Testing and we will edit with them our
collective movie!

-Events and Funding
Our projects are totally independent and self-financed grassroots
projects so as usually we need to Fund them. We are making events to
promote and fund our activity in Squat, House Projects and Social
Center etc.etc. If you want to help us making some events in your

Synopsis:
Mama Adama Camara is an African dancer who has being living in Europe now for about twenty years. People call her “MamAfrica” and before emigrating, she danced for more than fifteen years in the most important national Ballet of the Guinea’s Republic and performed in tours all over the world. Every year she goes back to her homeland for a few months taking care of her big family of which she’ s in charge of. Her artistic career is narrated by her personal memories and some big artists with who she had collaborated during her career; Her daily life is showed through its normal development inside her domestic life, her social-work environment. During her stay there, she will be joined by her European pupils that will stay in Guinea for two weeks to study with her the traditional African dance.

Synopsis:
Mama Adama Camara est un danseuse Africaine installée en Europe maintenant depuis vingt ans. Elle est connue sous le nom de ‘MamAfrica’ et avant son émigration en Belgique elle a dansé pendant plus de 15 années dans le ballet national le plus important de la République de Guinée, Les Ballets Africaines, se produisant en tournée dans le monde entier. Chaque année elle revient sur sa terre natale pour y passer quelque mois pour retrouvert la grande famille dont elle est le chef. Sa carrière artistique est racontée à travers son récit et celui des grands artistes avec lesquels elle a collaboré au cours des années;
Son quotidien est raconté à travers des scènes de vie de tous les jours, dans son contexte familial, professionel et social. Durant son séjour elle sera rejointe par ses élèves européens qui passeront deux semaines en Guinée afin d’étudier avec elle la danse traditionelle africaine.

E’ chiamata MamaAfrica’ e prima di emigrare ha ballato per più di 15 anni con il più importante Balletto Nazionale della Repubblica di Guinea, Les Ballet Africaines, facendo tourné in tutto il mondo. Ogni anno torna nella sua terra per trascorrere li qualche mese amministrando direttamente la grande famiglia di cui è a capo. La sua carriera artistica è narrata attraverso il suo racconto e quello dei grandi artisti con i quali ha collaborato nel corso degli anni; la sua quotidianità è raccontata attraverso il suo normale svolgimento, all’interno del suo contesto familiare, lavorativo e sociale. Durante la sua permanenza verrà raggiunta dai suoi allievi europei che trascorreranno in Guinea due settimane per studiare con lei la danza tradizionale africana.

“Doni doni -soon you will be artists”, shot in Guinée-Coankry, West Africa.

Doni doni – soon you\’ll be artists

In Koumana village Bangali, Moussa, Dati and Omori Camara are learning the traditional music of Hamanah people, the Strong men,
by master Nankhoria Amadou Keita. Step by step they will learn the secrets of Hamanah tradition.

Yakhouba Dabo, a young percussionist from Conakry, reaches Koumana during his travel in search of traditional rhythms and he mets the 4 children.

Their destiny cross is the cross between village and city
where tradition and modernity weaves toghether.
